The Festival
The Vaughan Williams Festival RVW50 is being held in Dorking, Surrey, in 2008, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Ralph Vaughan Williams.
The festival runs from Thursday, 3rd July to Sunday 6th July, starting with a lunchtime concert on Thursday and finishing with a special ‘Songs of Praise’ on Sunday evening.
The Musical Events
- 1pm Thursday: Songs and instrumental items,
- 8pm Thursday: Trumpet and organ,
- 1pm Friday: Songs and instrumental items,
- 8pm Friday: Concert and talk,
- 11am Saturday: Coffee concert,
- 7pm Saturday: Choral and orchestral concert,
- 10am Sunday: Patronal Festival Eucharist,
- 2pm Sunday: Afternoon film and
- 6pm Sunday: Festival Songs of Praise.
Flower Festival and Art Display
As well as the musical events, there is an art display, featuring work by pupils at St Martin's Church of England Primary School, and a flower festival in St Martin’s Church for the duration of the festival, open 10am to 5pm Thursday to Saturday, 12 noon to 5pm Sunday.
